Launching ceremony of the second batch of agribusiness management training for year two

This youth empowerment project is for three years and training activities are scheduled to take place three times each year. It is good to also know that the technical training being launched is the second batch of training activities for year two.

The three months agribusiness management program is for young Nigerians, between the ages of 18 to 35 years and 70% are young women. This training is taking place within the Songhai hubs of Imo Green Rural Community (IGRC) Owerri, Imo state and Josel Farms Abakaliki Ebonyi state Nigeria.  

The agribusiness management program aims to re-orientate the mindset of the youths so that they will see the enormous opportunities inherent in agriculture that traverses various value chains. They will begin to appreciate agricultural production /management activities which are practiced in sustainable, regenerative and integrated systems that are different from conventional systems. This is because it provides employment opportunities, and increases productivity and profit which translates to wealth.

In his keynote address, the Director General of Songhai, Fr. Godfrey Nzamujo said Nigeria will change because youths like you exist. This is because it needs a new cream of human resources who are capable of confronting the challenges of the nation head-on. According to him, that is the essence of this project. With technical, moral and organizational skills required the youths will encounter the current developmental needs in Nigeria.

The technical training program will help the youths develop the capacity of seeing all the potentials in their environment and be able to transform them into useful resources that are beneficial to human needs.  

Fr. Nzamujo, encouraged the trainees to be attentive and assimilate all they would be taught to make a positive difference in their lives and that of their community.
