Chemical fertilizers and other pesticides used in agricultural production infect food and cause damage to both humans and the environment. Increasingly demanding in terms of quality and diversity of products, people do not hesitate to turn to organic products. This is the reason why it is important today for agricultural entrepreneurs to adopt a new type of agriculture based on natural techniques of soil fertilization with organic matters … One of these techniques practiced in Songhai is Super soil.

Super soil is a healthy soil, which does not contain any chemicals. This status enables it to promote microorganism life and become a good soil required for any good crop. Soil quality then affects the taste, the aroma and the yield of plants.

In fact, the nutrient content of the soil is not the only criterion of a good land. The soil, often considered as sand, is a complex and diverse micro-environment. While providing plants the nutrients they need, the living beings of a healthy soil (bacteria and fungi) form a symbiotic relationship with plants roots, improving their immune system and the efficiency of nutrient absorption. When this relationship is established and maintained, it results in a protected environment with well grown plants. This aspect of the soil is often overlooked, but it is one of the little secrets that ensure the success of an organic crop. Therefore, the soil is called “Super soil” when all these conditions are met.

Super soil with clay, sand, silt and compost…

We can also imitate the natural process that leads to super soil (mimicry), combining the soil particles which are clay, sand and silt, plus a proportion of mature compost. This is one of the formulas for obtaining the super soil used at Songhai. The yield is better than that of conventional agriculture but to further improve the results, this super soil formula is first used for young nursery plants. The plants then have time to gain maximum benefit before being transplanted to another type of super soil.
