In this year 2015, Songhai initiative marks 30 years of life and activities, 30 years of challenges, joys and sorrows. October 2015 will solemnly mark this celebration. However, the year 2015 is dedicated to it. This is to set the tone and show support for this wonderful initiative for Africa that Lawrence Olufemi Obisakin, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Benin visited Songhai on Thursday 15th January 2015.
Greeted upon arrival by the Director of Songhai, Fr Godfrey Nzamujo and a small crowd of trainees, the Nigerian diplomat, on his first official visit to Songhai, discovered almost all the production and processing units of the center, through the guided tour conducted by Brother Nzamujo himself. The Green purification system for the recycling of waste water, the fabrication of agricultural machinery, the handicraft and processing units, the crop and livestock production, the fish farming, the decentralized renewable energy, the food industry, the plastic recycling, etc were all visited. The new industrial jewel of Songhai, being the soap factory has particularly caught his attention as to inspire him a spontaneous prayer to implore divine blessing on the building.
The swimming pool stage marked the end of the visit that amazed the Ambassador and his delegation. Lawrence Olufemi Obisakin was accompanied for the occasion by his wife Cecilia. The delegation stayed at Songhai in Porto Novo from Thursday 15 to Friday 16 January 2015.
