From 27th to 28th of January, the Songhai Center welcomed an important personality from the West African sub-region business world and even beyond: Germain Essohouna Meba, current Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Togo (CCIT), Chairman of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of West Africa and also Chairman of the Standing Conference of African and Francophone Consular Chambers.
For a long time he heard about the Songhai Center and its actions, Germain Essohouna Meba had a two-day visit to learn about the model and think about its implementation in other countries including Togo, his country native.
After touring the different production units of the Center, Germain Essohouna Meba said he was very impressed by the vision and work of Godfrey Nzamujo. “The founder is a full Pan-Africanist and everything I’ve seen here has impressed me ….. the whole set of techniques ranging from farming to processing. Everything is organic and everything that grows is transformed. Nothing is lost, “he said.
Under his triple cap of Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Togo, Chairman of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of West Africa and Chairman of the Standing Conference of African and Francophone Consular Chambers, the man stated that the Songhai model is a development model for Africa and deserves to be extended to the whole continent. “The model does not use chemical fertilizer. The chemical fertilizer degrades the soil and gives us poor quality of food, thus poor health. We have to move towards this model in our territories because if the population is healthy, the economy will grow on its own” he said. Germain Essohouna Meba also affirmed his determination to work for the establishment of a Songhai Center in each region of Togo. In this dynamic, the Chairman of the CCIT intends to introduce the initiative to the young people of his country so that they become imbued with and become guides for their community.
