“Peace Corps” organization is involved in many areas, be it health, education or food. In partnership with institutions such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the World Food Program (WFP), but also Songhai, the organization works for food security in many countries. It is therefore right that the Director of Programming and Training Department of Peace Corps visits Songhai Centre on Friday January 9, 2015. Leading a delegation of eight people from Washington but also from the national representation of the Peace Corps in Benin, Sonia Stines Derenencourt had a full tour of the center. The tour, conducted by Fr Godfrey Nzamujo himself, has allowed the delegation to discover Songhai, through its philosophy, its development model and many activities. At the end of the visit, “joy and hope” – hope especially for Africa – are the feelings expressed by the Director of the Programming and Training Department of the Peace Corps. Sonia Stines Derenencourt, although she repeatedly heard praises on Songhai Centre, she still had not hoped to discover what she saw. “I saw beyond my expectations,” she confided.
