Programs
Songhai training programs are built on practical teaching: learning by producing, processing by understanding local resources, managing as an entrepreneur and progressing in a real integrated-farm environment. The goal is to train young people, students, professionals and project holders who can create useful, sustainable and economically viable activities.
The heart of Songhai training is the integration of agricultural trades. Learners do not discover agriculture as an isolated activity, but as a complete system combining crop production, animal production, fish farming, food processing, marketing, maintenance and management.
In agriculture, training covers crop management, soil fertility, composting, rational irrigation, nurseries, market gardening, cereals and environmentally friendly production techniques. In livestock, practical tracks cover poultry farming, pig farming, small ruminants, animal feed, hygiene, reproduction and workshop organization.
Agro-processing plays a central role: it adds value to harvests, reduces losses, improves preservation and creates more value locally. Learners are guided to understand processing chains, quality, packaging, cost management and marketing.
Market gardening, organic fertilization, nurseries, water management and continuous yield improvement.
Livestock, feeding, care, unit organization and links with the other farm workshops.
Fish farming, water reuse and connection with crops in an integrated system.
Processing, preservation, quality, packaging and creation of higher-value food products.
Songhai training is first and foremost a field experience. Internships and apprenticeships place participants in production units where they observe, practice, correct and repeat until they master essential skills. This master-apprentice logic transmits techniques, management reflexes and a culture of good work.
The pathways may take the form of long-term training, capacity-building internships or shorter modules depending on the participant’s profile and project. Learners are encouraged to connect each skill to an economic objective: producing better, processing cleanly, selling methodically and preparing to launch or improve an activity.
Progressive follow-up
Practice is supported by trainers, technicians and agricultural entrepreneurs.
The programs are not only for young people who want to become agricultural entrepreneurs. They may also interest students in agriculture, agronomy, food processing, environment, rural economics or project management, as well as professionals who want to specialize or strengthen their skills.
For students, Songhai offers a place to observe and practice integrated systems, circular economy, agricultural value chains and local processing. For professionals, the Center is a place for improvement, career transition, prototyping and understanding sustainable agricultural models applicable in different African contexts.
These opportunities can take the form of internships, educational visits, practical modules, short courses, professional immersions or project support. They are especially suited to people who want to move from an idea to an workable model, or from an existing activity to a more structured operation.
